so well, once upon a long long long long time, when i knew how to remain shut up (maybe cos i was one), two musicians met and started jamming together... maybe coZ i remained shut or maybe just because they are such great musicians, 26 yrs down the lane, with one of them passing away last year, the result of this meeting still goes on & on... we would like to begin this humble podcast with a tribute to of the longest lasting indian bands ever... & to of the the genius of an artist, asheem who started this revolution with susmit... their new album... 16/330 khajoor road... officially formed in 1990, indian ocean has been there done that... their very own unique sound of music have taken them places where most indian bands would want to be...

This Bhartnatyam dancer hadn't touched a guitar till he was 19, but once he did, he never seem to be able to put it down... but he did... and he went on to start a music project... raghu diXit project has become of the most successful music group's of this country... having been named this year (2011) 's songline new artist of the year, having reached iTunes UK global music charts number one ranking... they have proved themselves over and over again... their unique sound is very representative of the urban indian character...

so if you keep an NIT graduate with MBA, a graduate from the arts school CAVA, a percussionist influenced by Pink Floyd, Phish, Sting, Coldplay and Safri Duo, a 21 year old guitarist, a hard core carnatic violinist and a film-maker together in one room... and they doNT kill each other... you will get a beautiful sound emanating from within that room... the sound of swaraathma...

Dolly was produced/born in 1996 - she had to be euthanised in 2003... nothing like that i hope ever happens with this band... because though they seem to see their stage identity as clones of themselves, the sound of their music is very original... if you love rock or stone or boulder or any of those sorts make sure to catch their album love.hate.heroes and keep checking their website for their new singles (sneak review - the new singles sounded great in the big horn fest where the pre released their album)

kieslowski believed that fate had a huge role to play in our lives... who we meet, what we end up doing, where we go, who we are turn out as a result of accidents... It is now difficult to believe that when Indraneel, the bassist from Orange Street along with Sharat, Sonam and Gyan from Parikrama got together to perform in 1999 it was just to make sure the show must go on at the Friends of Music. Those few days of jam sessions created major hits like Ganga & pahari funk which the fans shout out for even today when Mrigya performs...

metaphysics & music??? seriously??? that s what advaita's band page says... advaita meaning non-dual, or eXperiencing as one, has been a band that has been around since 2004 and has become quite popular in this period... A recurring theme of their songs is in finding a way back home, or to ones true nature.

What happens when you mix soulful carnatic ragas with head banging rock beats? You make  ‘Brahma Dance’ and stir up ‘Malhar Jam’ ...and well...melodic marmalades that leave you wanting more and more of this uniquely scrumptious musical delight! Just out of college in 2003, two of these guys started jamming together and soon more people joined in and the band went on to win the Band Hunt Reality Show "oohlalala" judged by A.R. Rahman. From Taranas to lullabies, this Bangalore-based band explores a spectrum of genres with elan.

This band has rolled on since 1993 despite rocky times and changing band line-up. Kicking off with New Delhi’s first AIDS awareness concert way back in the 90’s, their powerhouse performances have caught the pulse of the university campus and the world beyond! With deeply introspective lyrics and metallic madness, these guys are definitely ‘high on octane’ that fuels them through their musical drive!

Originally formed in 1998, as ashtoreth the band rocked till 2003... now some of the original members of the band have come back together to form what is now called Heaven's Down... their music sounds beautiful and one can't wait for the album they have been working on...

this is not an indian band actually, but a collaboration between two indian & two scottish musicians... the miX produces very interesting results and a beautiful new sound that is a delight to hear... check out india alba...

After playing as a one man band for long Avijit is collaborating with three other really seXy musicians to have a very unique music which they like to put forth as an urban balladeer in the folk tradition... Avi & the Uprising....

Having formed in 2010, hindi folk rock music band, Khalihaan is just taking off. With Atul's seXy voice and Ambar's awesome music and two new members in Sanjit & Arunava they have been rocking their bedroom(s) till now.... (that s where they have recorded their first demo track) but trust us on this, the music that is coming out of that of the bedroom will surely take them places... fingers crossed...
